The concept of 20/20 has gained immense popularity after the introduction of surgery to correct eyesight. The conventional surgery method to correct eyesight is known as Lasik Eye surgery. Earlier the chances of correcting eyesight with this method was 95 percent. But recently a number of technological advancements in this field has considerably improved the effectiveness of this method. With improved techniques like wave format LASIK, Iris registration and a number of add ons now the efficiency rate of Lasik surgery has improved to a stunning 99 percent. Thus with this add ons the possibility of 20/20 vision is very much possible.

Whenever a person goes for any kind of surgery 20/20 vision is regarded as the benchmark. But there are also many oppositions to this belief. Opponents belief that as far as laser eye surgery is concerned what matters more is the visual quality than the visual acuity. In fact there are many cases where complications have occurred as pointed by many opponents of the laser surgery. Complications often include halos, blurry vision, double vision or ghost vision, glare, sometimes starbursts surrounding light sources during night.

When a person has a normal vision free from any kind of eye defect, than his eyesight is normal and crisp. But after a laser surgery most people complain of many side effects. Vision quality is diminished significantly. Though a patient may be able to recognize the 20/20 line on the Snellen chart, he will have blurred vision. So unless you are sure that complications attached with laser eye surgery are completely dealt with you should not g for a eye laser surgery.

To test the effectiveness of the surgery patients are not tested on necessary grounds like contrast glare, sensitivity and depth perception. So what we require after a laser surgery is a comprehensive test regime to see if 20/20 vision is achieved or not.

So finally whenever you decide to take the Lasik eye surgery first consult with the doctor what techniques will he use and whether the quality of your vision would be corrected or not.
